headcanon blog for hart terrell
over at hm masterlist

I think, by canon definition, Hart (and Hazel) would have natural knacks for carpentry. In Land of Origin one of the ways to progress is to literally build houses, it’s how you get new people to move in, their shops and what not— and, if my recollection serves correctly— there’s other stuff the protagonists build as well.

So, I imagine they’re rather crafty with a hammer and nail, and are rather capable of making such things as furniture, bird houses, etc.

Hart: You don’t talk much, do ya?
Cam: [doesn’t look up from his book]
Hart: Ever thought about, y’know, sittin’ down for a one on one chat? Some special share time in the circle? Or, y’know, smilin’ every now and then.
Cam: [sighs, turning a page] … I don’t know how he puts up with you.
Hart: Huh? [furrows his brows together]
Cam: Phillip. I can’t imagine how he does it… [sighs once more] I already have a headache.
Hart: [mockingly gasps, feigning a hurt luck and placing a hand over his chest] Ouch. If I didn’t know better, I’d say ya didn’t like me. But, [grins devilishly] no need to be jealous, mate.
Cam: [looks disdainfully] .. What? Why would I be—
Hart: You’ll get him one day, mate, just gotta keep that lil’ sister of his distracted and—
Cam: Wh-what?! [visibly pales]
Hart: [grins wider] I gotta admit, you have great taste. [smirks cockily and runs his tongue over his bottom lip slightly] Bluebell farmer boys, a delicacy. Delicious in every way single you can imagine.
Cam: …. [is silent; face mixed between horrified and flustered]

so sometimes the muses get a little out of hand and start talking without my consent. and unfortunately Cam has stuck around despite me not playing him for very long/dropping him.
this conversation happened after i realized my boys’ very specific taste in men. which pretty much ended in Cam dying on the inside and Hart laughing obnoxiously loud.

tidbits

⚬ Hart’s appreciation for old crooners and the cheesy nature of old-fashioned things from his father and a teacher he had in high school whom he respected a great amount. His father was an avid watcher of the films, while the teacher would play the records during classes, leisurely background music and all that.
⚬ Summer, by far, is Hart’s favorite season, the weather alone gets him ridiculously excited; he’s naturally a restless person and will get rather antsy if he can’t be outside for at least six hours of the day. Summer also means that swimming is more fun, and storms; he fancies playing in the rain quite a bit…. not to mention it means he doesn’t have to water his own crops, ehehe.
⚬ However (though, technically, April in spring, in this current setting it’s summer!), he doesn’t get nearly excited about his birthday. Turning twenty-four, he finds himself rather old (in comparison at least, especially when you have a farmer next door who just turned twenty, ack), and he dreads aging. So, suffice to say, I can imagine he’ll either shut himself in on his birthday to be a crankypants, or he’ll work himself silly in the fields as a distraction so he’ll just pass out involuntarily when the day is done. While he loves to celebrate the birthday’s of others in cheery, loud fashions, he’d prefer if his own just didn’t exist.
⚬ Oh yeah, and he taught Hazel kickboxing ‘cause he’s the greatest best friend ever. ( ̄ー ̄)

electric type

The liveliest and most spontaneous type! A highly fun-loving person, you enjoy spending time lots of time with your friends and making the most of life. Your dynamic and spirited personality draws people to you like a magnet.
If you were a Pokemon, you would be the one that’s difficult to catch but ends up being the most loveable and favoured Pokemon in the trainer’s party.
Electric Moves that suit you are Spark, Charge and Volt Tackle.

sometimes i do dorky quizzes for characters.
eheh.

Hart became a farmer for a few reasons; he needed a way to sustain a livelihood on his own, of course, and Yamabiko was in need of someone to take care of the farm with the more expansive crop field (i.e. i imagine Hazel’s farm has a much bigger barn and chicken coop, with a bigger pasture field for grazing), not only did he have a natural knack for plants but he grew a fondness for it while tending to the small garden back home with his father, it also reminds him of his father; which he enjoys, but most of all it makes him feel useful.

One of Hart’s biggest driving motives is to feel useful, feel needed, in the smallest or biggest ways; one of the worst feelings for him is being incapable of helping, or not knowing how to. Plants will always needed someone to clear the weeds away, till the soil, water them; it makes him feel good to be needed and to contribute to something rather beautiful. Not to mention, he grows food and people will always need to eat, another gratifying purpose.

But the feeling of usefulness is at the highest when it comes to other people; essentially, he loves to help the ones he cares about, thus his nigh constant cheery demeanor and his tendency of jokes. He will very much go to the ends of the earth, so to speak, to help a friend, bring up their spirit, regardless of what it means for him. He tends to keep his own problems to himself, for these very reasons.

Freedom is important to Hart, if something is hidden away from him, or he is limited somehow, he tends to get over-cocky and break boundaries/do his own thing. Failures, too, are important to him, as he sees them as examples, stepping stones— he shrugs off failures really well, and honestly, doesn’t even see them as failures to begin with.

personality, the basics (and such)

Hart, nearly straight from the chase of meeting him, is taken as an outspoken and confident individual— he isn’t afraid to be be brash and bold in front others, whether they be complete strangers or close friends. In reality, he’s very impulsive and speaks whatever immediately comes to mind, without caring about the consequences beforehand; while this gets him into trouble, more often than not, it also makes him a very honest person, he has no qualms nor fears about pointing out the truth as he sees it.

While his confidence sometimes tips into arrogance, he earnestly believes in himself which leads him to be determined (see; stubborn) in everything he does— he doesn’t comprehend the thought of giving up. Sometimes, though, because of this, he ends up hurting himself when he bites off more than he can chew; he never refuses any sort of challenge (as long as it’s not at the expense of others) and thrives off risks, so it’s not a rare sight to see Hart toting around an assortment of bruises, scrapes and scuff marks.

He hones to a very playful and affectionate outward behaviour, seen as dorky by most, he does his best to be friendly and welcoming and has a liking for nicknames for likewise reasons. While it’s not uncommon for him to be flirtatious and to invade personal bubbles, he manages to still maintain a playful face, truly seeing everything in a kind and light-hearted view. However, he does have an aggressive and very protective side, when backed up into a corner himself he’s definitely not afraid to bare teeth and fight back, whether with words or fists, firmly believing that if you don’t stand up to your aggressors than they’ll simply attack more— though, it’s when one of his friends is threatened that he sincerely gets angry; while he wouldn’t admit it outright, Hart, coincidentally, has a big heart and cares deeply about others.

Curiosity is also something that defines him well, coupled with sparks of impatience, he loves to learn about new things, granted they’re interesting, new places and people, and can’t stand it when secrets are kept from him. He’s prone to wandering about if he’s intrigued about the area enough, and has a habit of asking too many questions.

Likes: nature, crops (tomato, especially), home cooked meals, alpacas, swims in the early morning and late dusk, afternoon naps, the smell of upturned soil, adventures, cheesy jokes and puns, sci-fi & action movies, being trusted, hot springs, having his shoulders rubbed, sunflowers, daisies, rabbits, pancakes.
Dislikes: sour food, winter & the cold in general, horses (since an incident falling off one as a child, he’s harboured a fear of them), pollution & littering, green tea, miso soup, boiled vegetables, red wine, curry.

Ironically, while he has a great appreciation for food, he’s a clumsy cook, taking him many tries before getting something right— the only fool-proof meals he’s capable of are salads and sandwiches.
He also harbours a great, seemingly, dislike for dancing— when really, it’s more of a fear as he has two left feet and is embarrassed of his incapability to do so.

cheat sheet — detailed info

birth name; Everhart Terrell-de Sauveterre
birth date; April, 15th/1988
birth place; Smack dab in the heart of the city
gender & sex; Male
height & weight; 5’10 ½ — 143 lbs. (toned, wiry)

father; Daniel Terrell
mother; Laurine de Sauveterre
siblings; Adelaide & Chloé, twin sisters. aged thirteen.

⚬ The Terrell lineage is simple, middle-class, the De Sauveterre line is revered for its history of business prowess, high class.
⚬ Terrell means ‘stubborn’ coming from the word ‘tirel’ meaning ‘to pull’, in reference to a stubborn person. It is English in usage.
⚬ de Sauveterre means ‘safe haven’, sauve meaning safe and terre meaning land, it is French in origin.
⚬ Since leaving home, moving from the city to Yamabiko, he’s dropped the majority of his name, going strictly by Hart Terrell. the only people knowing his real name in the village being Hazel. (for now)
⚬ He spent all of his childhood and teenagehood in the city, leaving for the village after high school graduation.
⚬ High school was a bit of a hardship for him; often rowdiness lead to fights, his inability to stifle his honesty and to watch others get picked on made things difficult, though he wouldn’t go back and change it if he could; proud of his actions, despite the sparing enemies he has in the city, and the suspensions on his permanent record.
⚬ Despite being rebellious at a young age, he was still forced to attend the etiquette classes his mother had set up for him. He, surprisingly, has a rather verbose vocabulary and knows how to present himself as a de Sauveterre, if need be.

Laurine sought an heir for her prestigious family, Hart sought life on his own terms, their relationship is strained, but Hart writes to her regardless, not entirely hating her, stubbornly trying to prove to her that he can still be successful without the de Sauveterre name. Addy (Adelaide) and Chloé, at birth, became mother’s favourites for her desire of her children to follow in her footsteps, for this reason Hart detested their existence when they were first born, it wasn’t until they grew a bit older, as did he, that the three grew close, being able to play together, Hart growing a fierce level of protectiveness over them; these days he writes to them as well, but has to go to the city himself to deliver the letters in secret, otherwise, Laurine would keep the letters away from the twins. Daniel, however, sought only to take care of his children, being a stay-at-home father, it was from him that Hart received most of his parental guidance and affection, it was also from Daniel, and the small garden of fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes he kept on the balcony, that Hart learned of his knack for plants.
